Call of the Cailleach
Honoring the Goddess and Samhain Wisdom
November 2, 2019 10am to 4:30pm
Welcome to the Great Fire Festival of Ancient Wisdom
Samhain marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter. It is a liminal time when the veil between worlds is thin and we can communicate more easily with spirits and other realms.
On this day, Charlene Ray and Rosaleen Durkin will guide you on a journey to explore the gifts of the Cailleach and the feminine wisdom that is returning to the world at this time. We will invoke the healing gifts of Samhain while exploring sacred waters, poetry, fire wisdom and herbal healing.
As the days shorten and the sun appears lower in the sky, we enter the dark time of the year when nature lets go. The more active energy of trees and plants resides in their roots – root energy. Those trees and plants appear to be asleep but beneath the earth they are nourished by the soil and by stillness. This is a time for us to go deep within, to listen and reflect, to be still with wisdom. Soon enough we’ll emerge in the spring with new ideas and new life, just like the trees and plants.
In Celtic tradition, this is the time of the Cailleach: Goddess of Winter, Mother of Mountains, Ancient Crone of Wisdom. She calls upon us to us to reflect and to renew.
With the Cailleach as our guide, we will walk the pathway along the edge of winter toward stillness and inner wisdom. She will invite us to examine and release what no longer serves us as we make space in our minds and hearts for a deepening in the months ahead.
We invite you to join us for this immersion into magical time.
We’ll journal, we’ll sit in silence, we’ll reflect and spend time in nature. Poetry, candlelight, guided imagery and song will bless the day as we set our intentions for the winter months ahead.
You will leave this intimate circle with a wide open heart and a blend of water from a sacred well and a mix of essential oils to support you throughout the winter.
Coffee, tea and snacks will be provided. Please bring your own lunch or purchase it at the hotel.
Prepare for your trip
After you register you will receive reflection questions that will help you prepare for the workshop. Please bring a water bottle, a journal, a few pens or pencils, some good walking shoes and warm clothes/rain gear for our time in nature.
We plan to create an altar that represents Cailleach and the time of Samhain. We’ll ask you to bring an object for this altar that has meaning for you. This could be something as simple as rock or a symbol of wisdom, transition or the harvest. Don’t overthink this; often your object will find YOU.
