Charlene Ray, Soul Wisdom Guide, Mentor, and Interfaith Minister

Ever since I was a little girl, I knew the trees and animals were teachers. It was almost like they had a special connection with God that humans couldn't quite achieve. The realization that I could communicate with these beings came quite early and then got tucked away for safe keeping.
My father died when I was 13, leaving a gaping hole in my heart. I decided then that I would either be a Pastor or a Social Worker, so that I could help other young people experiencing pain. I loved the school environment, so I set out on a path to become a school social worker.
I graduated with a MSW from the University of Illinois in 1985. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and have been in practice as a therapist, mentor, and guide for 27 years.

Moving to Whidbey Island in 1992 was life changing and reopened my earliest connections with the natural world. I met one of my spiritual teachers the late Janine Ellison who guided and mentored me on the path to becoming a shamanic practitioner. I have studied with many teachers and learned many tools and techniques along the way, from traditional psychotherapeutic techniques to alternative methods. I have studied Alchemical Healing, guided imagery, voice dialogue, equine assisted psychotherapy, nature based soul work and vision quest work.
I blend all of the traditions and techniques together, along with my intuitive and Spirit led work, to create an individualized and powerful experience for each client.

Along the way, I was called again to the ministry to serve the dying and the grieving. I was also called to minister to the living, at points of transition and celebration, such as births, weddings, blessings, memorials, and rites of passage. For the past 13 years I have led Passage groups for youth and since 2010 have led Vision Quests for youth and adults. I am an Interfaith Minister, I graduated in 2014 from One Spirit Interfaith Seminary.

I love life and enjoy spending time in nature, reading, writing in my journal, cooking, walking, hanging out with my amazing son, Evan, connecting with friends, and relaxing with my cats. I love living on this gorgeous island and being a part of this wonderful community.

My mission is LOVE. I am here to listen each individual story with an open heart, to love with a mountain heart, to serve those who are in need of compassion, and always, on a daily basis, remember why I am here on this beautiful earth.
I find joy in expressing gratitude for my life and feel humbled and honored to do this wonderful work that I am called to do.
Blessings and love!

I have lived on the lip of insanity, wanting to know reasons, knocking on a door.
It opens.
I've been knocking from the inside.
