Connecting With The Spirit of Ireland: A Celtic Pilgrimage
Join your guide Charlene Ray and 7-10 participants on a sacred and intimate journey to connect with the landscape and beauty of Ireland. This journey will focus on moving mindfully and with great reverence as we spend time reflecting and becoming present to the wisdom of the land, and the longings of our soul. We will spend 7 nights at the Lisserlough House, Boyle, Roscommon Ireland and spend our days deeply connecting with wells, tombs, stones, labyrinths, and the natural world in Sligo/Roscommon/Donegal/Leitrim before heading to Wicklow for 3 nights at Trooperstown Wood Lodge in Laragh. Here we will spend time with ancient wells, mountains and lakes as we invite our own wisdom to be unveiled in the mystery of the Irish landscape. A final visit to the great Hill of Tara completes this amazing pilgrimage.
Our full itinerary for the journey: Day 1: May 15th Arrive Dublin Airport. Flights get in that morning. John and I will be there to greet you. then our bus will take us all together to Sligo, arriving mid afternoon. We’ll have lunch on the way there. Settle in at Lisserlough Retreat House. Day 2: May 16th Here John will give us an introduction to the mythology of the area. We will head to the Caves of Keash where we will climb to the entrances and gaze out to the magnificently extensive views of lake-dotted southern Sligo, east Mayo and Roscommon. We will have lunch at the nearby Fox’s Den. We will finish the day at Carrowcrory cottage where we will walk the tree labyrinth, visit the well and listen to John’s stories and poetry. Claire Roche, will serenade us with her harp and beautiful voice. Day 3: May 17th Yeats Day: William Butler Yeats was an Irish poet and one of the foremost literary figures of the early 20th century.. We will devote this day to exploring the beautiful places that inspired Yeats. The fairy folk will await our arrival to the green forest of Hazelwood and the great waterfall of Devil’s Chimney. Walks through Hazelwood are some of the most beautiful in all of Ireland. This day will inspire and call forth your inner poet. We will also spend time at Tobernault Well, a sacred place for quiet reflection and personal ceremony. Day 4: May 18th We visit Carrowkeel, thought to be a power spot and one of the most important centers of Neolithic Ireland. Passage tombs are found here and can be entered by carefully crawling into the womb-like burial chambers. We will spend time in quiet reflection and ceremony in this sacred place. We will be joined by a brilliant local guide. Day 5: May 19th We visit County Donegal to stand in the majestic presence of Slieve League Cliffs, which are the highest and most exquisite marine cliffs in all of Europe with views that will take your breath away. We will stop at several sights along the way which may include Mullaghmore, Janus Figure, and a holy well on the shore near Ballyshannon. We will plan to see a couple of the sites in Glencolumcille and also have a little time for shopping at the woolen mill. Day 6: May 20th After a long day of travel we will spend this day visiting Strandhill Beach and indulging in the glorious detoxifying seaweed baths at VOYA. This sublime indulgence begins with a steam treatment to open pores so nutrients from the seaweed can be absorbed. You are then immersed in a bath of seaweed from the unspoiled Atlantic coast of Ireland. You will feel relaxed and reborn and your skin will look fantastic. We will have lunch at a fabulous cafe next door. There will be time for a long walk on the beach, reading in a cafe or writing in your journal. Day 7: May 21st Today we will explore the magic of Drumcliff where Yeats is buried. We will enjoy a coffee or tea and scone at the gift shop here. Benbulben in the distance will call us to its majesty and beauty and we will spend time on a forest walk at the base of this magic mountain. We will visit the Organic Centre to experience the gardens and have lunch at the cafe before heading to Fowley Falls; one of the best kept secrets of north Leitrim. Day 8: May 22nd After our powerful time in the West, we head East to the enchanting County Wicklow and Glendalough. There will be a few magical stops along the way to our accommodations at Trooperstown Wood Lodge in Laragh. This evening we will enjoy a lovely dinner at the Wicklow Heather and meet up with our Wicklow guide Rosaleen. She will give us a glimpse into the mystery and beauty of this area and prepare us for the journey ahead with the wells of Wicklow. Day 9: May 23rd Today we will explore Glendalough Monastic Settlement and the breathtaking Wicklow Mountains. We will spend time walking, reflecting and in ceremony. We will have lunch at a little cafe and have time to shop at Avoca Handweavers. Day 10: May 24th This will be a day to travel to several sacred and hidden wells with our guide, Rosaleen and experience the awakening feminine energy at these sites. We will take time to experience the healing of these holy and ancient sites. We will explore the town of Wicklow and the beautiful coast line before settling in for a final night at our B and B. Day 11: May 25th On our final day we travel to Tara and then on to Dublin The Hill of Tara is associated with the ancient rituals of kingship. We will spend time at this sacred place that has many stories to tell. You may find yourself napping under the fairy tree, reflecting at one of the wells, wandering through the ancient cemetery or walking the green hills. Lunch at the Tara Cafe Guests will be transported to a Dublin airport hotel for the final night May 26th Guests depart for other adventures or return home
